Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project - September update
Despite the poor weather and rough seas experienced over the last few weeks, the engineering works are progressing on the Waterfront. The concrete cladding to the sheet piles is now nearing completion and the precast stepped units to the western revetment are now being installed over the area where we hope to import the new beach.
Procurement has now commenced for a Contractor to develop the Watersports Hotspot following completion of the engineering works, with the K2 Architects team continuing to prepare the detailed drawings which will form the tender pack for obtaining prices from interested Contractors.
A consultation event has been planned for 27th October 2011, which will take place in Eirias Leisure Centre. The intention of the event is to provide an update for members of the public in relation to the works completed to date as well as to outline the works which are planned to take place over the next phase. The event will be attended by members of Conwy County Borough Council's project team as well as representatives from VolkerStevin, the Contractor for the engineering works, and K2 Architects, the designers of the Watersports Hotspot. Adverts will be placed in local papers in the weeks leading up to the event which will provide full details of the event.
